Urban Recycling Realizes Sustainable Nordic Design

Urban Recycling realizes a conceptual vision of producing a furniture line for everyday use out of sustainable materials. Its line of tables and chairs are produced using reclaimed elm wood from demolished old-quarter housing in Shanghai as well as other organic materials.

Urban Recycling

The wood from the demolished housing is century-old Chinese elm. It has been used for interior panelling and for structures in the old quarter houses of Shanghai. We have use this wood to create a line of chairs and tables in a contemporary Nordic design.

During the period from1990 to 2002, as much as 38 million square meters of older housing and apartments were torn down to make room for modern residential and commercial properties.
