ANGST IS PART OF COMMUNITY

The title of the table is created based on some of the values that are used in the visual arts project, Social Design, on which the artist FOS creates its works and designs.
The way in which we create a personal understanding of ourselves and others goes through, among other things, the influence of our cultural norms, our past and the things with which we surround ourselves.
We have a kind of personal space around us which varies between cultures, but for all of us it becomes a physical boundary for the individual when it is broken by another; in special instances, this is linked to an intimate anxiety about performance. But it is not intimacy, it is a consistent feeling and an important part of the driving force and one of the ingredients that create our communities.
“Anxiety is part of the community” is a dining / canteen table that refers to this condition. By just being 10cm narrower, the design creates a framework that naturally breaks the built-in intimacy boundary the majority of us have and the opportunity for another kind of spatial closeness can be built up.
